Profile
Rural Office for Architecture is a young architectural practice based near Newcastle Emlyn, West Wales.
It is the work of architect Niall Maxwell, assisted by Andrew Docherty, Rhodri Thomas, Kieran Rees & Helen Maxwell
Niall and Helen moved to Wales from London in 2004 and established the studio in 2005 to work on the development of Cardigan’s historic port on the Teifi river estuary.
The practice has focused on developing a vernacular design response to the rural context in which they live and work. In recent years the rural location of projects has spread to England, but we continue to respond contextually to each site.
